Thanksgiving!

We just got back yesterday afternoon from a lovely trip up to New York for Thanksgiving!  We had a lot of fun hanging out with the family, playing, relaxing, watching movies, eating, talking and just being together.  The older Julia gets, the better she gets along with Marlee and Jonah and the more they are able to interact with one another.  11.30.2015(3)

On Thanksgiving morning, Julia loved watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade… here she was, mesmerized by the Radio City Rockettes!11.30.2015(6)

She had a lot of fun playing with the Hanukkah presents she got from Jon & Sara and from Mona & Robert.  She loved playing dressup in her various Princess dresses with her jewelry, tiaras, and “clicky clack” shoes (aka high heels)!  While we were there she also loved watching the movie Inside Out, which she watched 3 times in the 4 days we were up there.  11.30.2015(5)

Katie (Sara’s sister) also came over with her 2-month old baby boy, Wesley, and Julia was very excited to hold him!  She was so cute with him, rubbing his face and calling him “Cutie Pie!”  but she hasn’t quite figured out how to be gentle with him and she wants to be able to hold him all by herself, which she certainly isn’t steady enough or strong enough to be able to do.

On Saturday, Ken & I drove into the city with Julia, where we met up with Nate & Anya and their twin boys.  It’s hard to believe that the last time we saw them was when Julia was only 2 months old!  They have 17-month identical twin boys who are just adorable and I’m so glad I finally got to meet them.  Julia played nicely with them and they were so sweet.  It took them a while to warm up to us, but by the end of our visit they were so sweet.  Anya had just bought a new stroller, in which they could face each other, and they loved being able to look at each other, kick their feet, giggle, play peek-a-boo, and make funny faces at one another.  It was the cutest thing ever! 11.30.2015(2)

The drive to and from New York was a bit rough… it took 5 hours each way, with two short stops each way for bathroom and snack breaks.  But we really did have a wonderful weekend with family & friends.

Now that we are back we have just 4 and a half weeks before Christmas, and then we are going away to California for the week of New Years!  It’s hard to believe that trip will be here so soon!  For now though, time to focus on work for a few weeks before checking out to warmer weather and family time.
